Prayagraj’s National Law University Has Cleared For Top Positions

On July 6, 2023, State Government released an order which outlined the pay scale for the below-stated positions.

National Law University in Prayagraj, which is still under construction, has opened the top three positions of the University:

  • Vice Chancellor;
  • Registrar;
  • Financial Controller

In order to speed up development, the state government had allotted 103 crore under the UP Budget 2023–24 passed in February 2023 for this National Law University that is now under construction at Jhalwa.

Mukesh Kumar Singh, special secretary, legal of NLU Prayagraj announced the following pay scale:

1.       Vice – Chancellor
  • Range of 75,000 Fixed (Revised 2,10,000 Fixed Pay) and,
  • 5,000 university allowance
2.       Registrar
  • Range of 15,600-39;
  • 100 Grade pay 7,600 (Revised Structure Matrix level 12)
  • The letter, a copy of which is with HT
3.       Financial Controller
  • Salary band of 37,400-67,000
  • Grade salary 8,900 (in revised structure Matric Level 13A)

On July 29, 2020, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet had gave its approval for the establishment of a National Law University in Prayagraj. The Uttar Pradesh Legislature also approved the “Uttar Pradesh National Law University Prayagraj Act, 2020” in 2020 in order to build this university.

On September 11, 2021, Ram Nath Kovind, who was the President of India at the time, laid the groundwork for the Uttar Pradesh National Law University in Prayagraj.

On 3rd December 2021 Yogi Adityanath, UP Chief Minister stated that National Law University at Deoghat, Jhalwa in Prayagraj would be named after Rajendra Prasad on the anniversary of the first President of India Rajendra Prasad’s birth.

The university will ultimately extend over 33.58 acres and is being built on a 28.599-acre plot of land. The university will first provide a BA-LLB five-year program with 60 seats, for which a total of 71 roles, including 11 professorial and associate professorial positions, 34 assistant professorial positions, and 15 other positions, were previously created.

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU), the state’s first national law university, is currently operating in Lucknow, and the Prayagraj campus is slated to become the second.
