Justice AM Khanwilkar, a former judge of the Supreme Court, has been appointed as the Chairman of Lokpal.
In July 2022, Justice Khanwilkar retired from the Supreme Court of India. On May 13, 2016, he was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of India.
The former Lokpal chief, Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, retired two years ago.
Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty, a member of the judiciary, served as the anti-corruption ombudsman’s acting head upon Justice Ghose’s retirement in May 2022.
The appointment of three judicial and three non-judicial Lokpal members has also been announced by the Centre. Former Himachal Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy, former Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Yadav, and Law Commission Chairman Ritu Raj Awasthi are among the judicial members.
