A division bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Dipankar Datta on Monday (3rd July) refused to entertain a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking to set up National Commission for Men and stated that the petition portrayed a one-sided picture.

No question of misplaced sympathy for anyone. You just want to portray a one-sided picture. Can you give us data of young girls dying soon after marriage?” the Bench stated.

The PIL was filed by Advocate Mahesh Kumar Tiwari, and was listed for hearing on Monday. The PIL seek to establish guidelines and form a ‘National Commission for Men’ to safeguard married men against domestic violence.

The petition was dismissed as withdrawn.
