Supreme Court Dismisses Two PILs With Rs.25,000 Costs Each For Re-Classification Of Caste System And Phasing Out Of Reservations

The Supreme Court dismissed two PILs with costs for “re-classification of the caste system” and “phasing out of reservations gradually to make alternate reservation policy”.

A Bench comprising of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha remarked that such PILs are an abuse of court process. The court held that the petitioner must pay costs of ₹25,000 to the Supreme Court Bar Association and must produce the receipt in 2 weeks.
