Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Permanent Appointments For Two Additional Judges Of J&K And Ladakh High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice Dhananjaya YChandrachud and including Justices Sanjiv Khanna and B R Gavai, has recommended the elevation of two Additional Judges to permanent Judges of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

The resolution endorsing the appointment of Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi and Justice Rahul Bharti, who are currently serving as Additional Judges, was finalized after a thorough assessment of their recommendations via notifications dated:-

The additional judges who have been recommended are:

  1. Justice Rahul Bharti – Jammu and Kashmir High Court
  2. Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi – Jammu and Kashmir High Court

Justice Rahul Bharti’s nomination received unanimous approval from the Collegium of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on August 21, 2023. The evaluating Committee deemed his judgments “good” and “fairly reasonable.”

Similarly, Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi’s nomination arose after the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh proposed her permanent appointment on November 18, 2023. A Supreme Court Committee, consisting of two judges, rated the quality of her judgments as “good” and “reasonably well written.”
