About Desi Kaanoon
Starting off on Instagram sharing memes related to legal knowledge, Desi Kaanoon is a social-media start-up by law students, for law students. With a current following of more than thirty thousand followers including Facebook and Instagram, Desi Kaanoon has been a proud media partner for various events of law schools, colleges and universities. Besides, have mentored more than ten thousand law aspirants to get through eminent law schools across the country. We also organized various events including seminars and quiz competitions for our budding lawyers. We often look forward to promote seminars, moot courts, MUNs, essay competitions, quiz competitions, conferences, call for papers and many more events. Our firmly gained goodwill has connected us with lots of talented people from the legal arena one would have always aspired of interning under.
Our website intends to bring to you articles on contemporary legal issues. To inspire young minds, regular interviews of top-notch lawyers are shared, particularly about their hardwork and life advices.
About the competition
To derive some constructive purpose out of the current lockdown, Desi Kaanoon brings to you its very first edition of National Online Article Writing Competition. If you are adept at writing and are wondering from where to begin, this is the right opportunity. For regular writers, this competition will open the avenue for polishing their research and writing skills.
Eligibility Criteria
All 11th,12th class and undergraduate/postgraduate students from recognized schools/college/universities are eligible for the event.
Topic(s) (Choose any ONE)
a. Office of Chief Justice of India now comes under RTI Act: Is it justifiable and how?
b. Right to Abortion
c. Accessibility of education for students with disabilities.

- Single Author: Rs. 100/-
- Co-authorship: Rs. 150/-

Submission Guidelines
- All the entries must be typewritten. No scanned or handwritten submission will be accepted.
- The word limit of the article should strictly be between 1200-1500 words.
- The article shall be written in English only.
- Guidelines for the article are as follows:
* Font: Times New Roman
* Font Size: 14 for titles, 12 for the content and 10 for footnotes/citation.
* Alignment: Justified
* Citation Method: The Bluebook 20th Edition.
Miscellaneous Rules
- The main body of the mail shall consist of Name, College/University name and Contact Number. Any sort of identification in the main article shall be a ground for immediate disqualification.
- The last date for registration is 17th April 2020 {Extended} Submission Deadline is also 17th April 2020 {Extended} by 11:59 p.m.
- All articles submitted after the due deadline will not be accepted.
- An article can be co-authored by a maximum of one participant.
- The content should be the original work of the writer and should not have been given to any other competition or for any publication.
- Participants submitting plagiarised Articles will not be provided with certificates.
- The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
- Note 3: All entries shall be submitted in (.doc) format only to desikaanoon@gmail.com with subject of the mail titled “Entry for Article Writing”.
- The results will be declared by 25 April, 2020 (subject to change).
Prizes
The top ranker will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- and the second ranker will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 500/-. The top two articles will also be published on our website. All the participants will get an e-certificate sent on their mail id.
