An Indian Army court-martial gave a sentence of over ten years and ten months to a soldier who was caught passing confidential data to a Pakistan embassy staffer in New Delhi. The offender was providing information about the military activities along the northern borders. The court-martial was headed by a woman officer.

The soldier was caught sharing information with a Pakistani spy, Abid Husain alias Naik Abid, a Pakistani national, working at the High Commission of Pakistan. The accused was posted in a formation close to the China border and was supplying info to the Pakistani spy posted in their embassy in the national capital.

The list of documents that the soldier shared with the spy agency was the guard duty list of the formation where he was deployed, and he tried to pass on information on the vehicles of the formation and a list of movement of vehicles in view of the Covid lockdown.

It is said that the activities of the army personnel took place at a time when the northern adversaries were attempting to infiltrate the Line of Actual Control (LAC). However, as per the Indian Army sources, the soldier had access to only trivial information.
