Due to a sudden surge in the number of COVID-19 infected cases across the country, the Supreme Court Advocate on Record Examination, 2021 which was scheduled to be held from 8th to 11th June 2021 has been postponed.
The fresh dates for the examination will be informed in due course, the notice reads.
This move comes after several requests were received from various quarters for the postponement of the examination.
“The Competent Authority, after consideration of requests received from various quarters for postponement of Advocates On Record Examination, 2021 and for ensuring the safety and well-being of the candidates and the exam functionaries, has been pleased to postpone the AOR Examination which was scheduled to be held from 8th to 11th June 2021,” the notice stated.
The last date of submission of the application forms for the AOR examination has also been extended to 30th June 2021 till 05:00 PM.
This notice has been issued on 12th May 2021 under the signature of the Secretary of the Board of Examiners, Rajesh Kumar Goel.
Previously, the Supreme Court Advocate-on-Record Association (SCAORA) vide letter (dtd: May 02, 2021) had requested the Supreme Court of India to postpone this year’s Advocates-On-Record Examination, from June 2021 to December 2021.
Earlier, by virtue of the notification (dtd: March 26, 2021), it was informed that the Examination for the Advocates-on-Record will be held in the Supreme Court Premises, New Delhi on 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th June 2021. With regard to the eligibility for appearing in the examination, the notification stated that “All Advocates who will be completing one year’s continuous training on or before 30th April 2021 are eligible to appear for the aforesaid examination”.
The Supreme Court by virtue of notice on April 24, had extended the time for submission of the application forms to May 01, 2021, till 01:00 PM.
