On 25th January 2024, a woman residing in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, initiated divorce proceedings against her husband merely eight months into their marriage. The grounds for divorce stem from an alleged breach of honeymoon promises.
The woman contends that her husband had assured her of an exotic honeymoon, either in Goa or abroad. However, contrary to these expectations, he unilaterally chose Ayodhya and Varanasi as their destination. Both individuals are employed as IT professionals and, as per the divorce application, are financially capable of an overseas vacation. The husband, citing familial obligations, initially agreed to Goa or South India but eventually booked tickets to Ayodhya and Varanasi, revealing the change in plans only a day before departure.
The trip took place under the pretext of the husband’s mother desiring a visit to Ayodhya ahead of the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony. The disagreement came to light upon their return, leading to a heated argument and, subsequently, a legal dispute.
The woman claims that her spouse prioritizes his family over her, contributing to the marital discord. On the other hand, the husband dismisses the issue as an exaggerated concern raised by his wife. The couple is presently undergoing counseling at the Bhopal Family Court, attempting to reconcile their differences and salvage the marriage.
