In a strategic move within the digital media landscape, Wubba Lubba Dub Dub (WLDD) has acquired the intellectual property assets of ScoopWhoop from The Good Glamm Group for approximately ₹20 crore. The transaction, structured as an all-asset sale, transfers ownership of ScoopWhoop’s content and branding to WLDD, excluding any associated liabilities.
Triumvir Law served as the legal advisor to WLDD in this acquisition. The firm facilitated the transfer of selective intellectual property from ScoopWhoop Media Private Limited, ensuring a seamless transition of assets.
The Good Glamm Group had initially acquired ScoopWhoop in 2021 for approximately ₹100 crore, aiming to diversify its digital media portfolio. However, the group’s strategic focus has since shifted more towards the beauty sector, rendering ScoopWhoop’s predominantly male-oriented audience less aligned with its core objectives. This realignment prompted the decision to divest ScoopWhoop.
This sale is part of The Good Glamm Group’s broader strategy to streamline operations and address financial obligations, including employee salaries and vendor payments. The group has recently undertaken similar divestitures, such as the sale of Sirona Hygiene back to its original founders.
WLDD, a meme marketing agency established in 2018, views the acquisition of ScoopWhoop as a strategic expansion to enhance its presence in the digital media space. The company plans to revitalize ScoopWhoop, aiming to make it a leading new-age publisher that appeals to both Gen Z and millennial audiences.
This transaction underscores the dynamic nature of the digital media industry, where companies continually reassess and realign their portfolios to adapt to evolving market trends and audience demographics.
