Zimmer Biomet, a leading U.S.-based medical device company, has appointed Vivek Malhotra as its new Director – Legal (South Asia). Founded in 1927 and headquartered in Warsaw, Indiana, Zimmer Biomet specializes in cutting-edge medical technologies and orthopedic solutions. Malhotra’s appointment is expected to further strengthen the company’s legal and regulatory framework across South Asia.
Malhotra is a distinguished legal and contracts expert with over 17 years of diverse experience in legal advisory, corporate governance, compliance, regulatory matters, and contract management. His expertise spans multiple industries, and he has played a pivotal role in handling complex institutional arbitrations. He is currently empanelled as an arbitrator at globally recognized institutions, including WIPO and ICA.
Malhotra’s academic credentials are equally impressive. A graduate in law, he holds an LL.M from National Law University, Delhi, along with multiple postgraduate degrees, including B.Com (H), M.Com, MBA, and M.A. in Economics. His legal acumen has been recognized at the highest level, having received gold medals from the Chief Justice of India for his excellence in PGD in Corporate Laws & Management and PGD in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the Indian Law Institute. Additionally, he holds specialized certifications in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), GDPR, Contracts Management, and Public Procurement.
In his previous roles as an in-house counsel and contracts specialist, Malhotra has provided strategic legal guidance on contract negotiations, joint ventures, IPR issues, due diligence, employment laws, dispute resolution, and data protection. His vast knowledge and leadership in corporate legal affairs make him a valuable addition to Zimmer Biomet, where he is expected to play a crucial role in navigating the company’s legal landscape in South Asia.
