The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended new judges to Allahabad High Court including Supreme Court Lawyers

On 01st September, 2025, the Collegium of the Supreme Court of India has suggested 26 persons as judges in the Allahabad High Court. The list includes 12 lawyers from the Bar and 14 officers from the judicial service. The decision came after a meeting of the Collegium on September 1, which followed interactions with several shortlisted candidates.

Out of the 26 recommendations, four are women. Senior Advocates Garima Prashad and Swarupama Chaturvedi, both practicing in the Supreme Court, have been recommended from the Bar. Vani Ranjan Agarwal and Babita Rani are also selected for the Judicial Officers.

The lawyers whose names have been suggested are Vivek Saran, Adnan Ahmad, Vivek Kumar Singh, Garima Prashad, Sudhanshu Chauhan, Abdhesh Kumar Chaudhary, Swarupama Chaturvedi, Jai Krishna Upadhyay, Siddharth Nandan, Kunal Ravi Singh, Indrajeet Shukla, and Satya Veer Singh.

The judicial officers proposed for elevation include Dr. Ajay Kumar-II, Chawan Prakash, Divesh Chandra Samant, Prashant Mishra-I, Tarun Saxena, Rajeev Bharti, Padam Narain Mishra, Lakshmi Kant Shukla, Jai Prakash Tiwari, Devendra Singh-I, Sanjiv Kumar, Vani Ranjan Agrawal, Achal Sachdev, and Babita Rani.

This recommendation seeks to address the vacancies in the Allahabad High Court and strengthen its bench strength.
