Adv. Nipun Saxena shares an interesting exchange with the then Hon’ble Chief Justice of India – Late Justice Altamas Kabir when he was representing a PIL at Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the fourth year of his law school.
Justice Kabir: Who are you?
Nipun Saxena: I am the petitioner in the said case.
Justice Kabir: that’s okay. But who are you?
Nipun Saxena: Sir, I am the lead petitioner.
Justice Kabir: But who are you?
Nipun Saxena: Sir, I am Nipun Saxena.
Justice Kabir: Do you know where you are standing?
~Mr. Nipun at this point of time got worried and wondered if he had committed some grave mistake in his draft~
Nipun Saxena (voice shaking): Sir, I am standing in the hall of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
Justice Kabir: Yes! This is where so many landmark cases have been argued including the Keshvananda Bharti case.
~Nipun Saxena listens in silence~
Justice Kabir: Why are you silent?
Nipun Saxena: Sir, I am amused at the thought of how a 13-judge bench could be accommodated here.
Justice Kabir laughs and passes an order.
