On August 21st, the Telangana High Court launched live broadcasting of court proceedings for all 29 courtrooms of the High Court.
Chief Justice Alok Aradheofficially launched it on the website of Telangana High Court and commenced the live streaming at 10:30 AM.
Previously, live broadcasting was available only for the proceedings in Courtroom 1 of the High Court. Now, proceedings in all courtrooms can now be watched live by accessing a link provided on the High Court’s website.
The Gujarat High Court initiated live streaming of court proceedings, which was made available on its YouTube channel in October 2020. Later, several High Courts including Karnataka, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Calcutta, and followed the procedure on the grounds of transparency and greater access to court hearings.
The High Courts of Kerala, Patna, and Jharkhand have uploaded live streams of court proceedings on their YouTube channels in the past. However, they are no longer available for the public to watch live on this platform.
The Supreme Court has also started live broadcasting, albeit in a limited manner, with Constitution Bench hearings being made accessible on YouTube.
