A team from National Law University, Jodhpur, secured the position of second-best overall at the 17th edition of the Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot. The team comprises Kovida Bhardwaj, Mudit Mangalam Pandey, Harshita Baswana, and Akshat. This was the only one from India to progress past the preliminary rounds. Singapore Management University won this moot.
The problem statement in the 2025 edition revolved around key issues in investor-state arbitration, including the scope of arbitrability in such disputes, lawful expropriation parameters, valuation principles such as regulatory pricing versus fair market value, and questions surrounding the legal standing of umbrella clauses.
The rounds were hosted across several prestigious venues in Frankfurt, including the offices of Noerr, Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, Clifford Chance, and the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The competition brought together 26 teams representing law schools across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
