The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, has once again secured its position as the best law school in India, according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. This marks the seventh consecutive year that NLSIU has topped the NIRF rankings, reinforcing its status as a premier institution for legal education in the country.

Following NLSIU, National Law University (NLU) Delhi, NALSAR University of Law in Hyderabad, and West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata, have maintained their positions at second, third, and fourth place respectively. These rankings have remained consistent with the previous years, reflecting the continued excellence of these institutions.

Symbiosis Law School, Pune, which had fluctuated in the rankings over the past few years, has now secured the fifth position. Last year, it was ranked sixth, while in 2022, it held the third spot.

The NIRF 2024 rankings were announced by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at a ceremony held at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The event saw the participation of various dignitaries and was live-streamed by the National Informatics Centre, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

In addition to the law school rankings, the NIRF 2024 rankings also highlighted the top institutions across various categories, including engineering, management, and medical education. IIT Madras retained its top spot in the overall category, while IIM Ahmedabad was ranked as the best management institution. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, continued to be recognized as the leading medical college in India.

This year, the NIRF expanded its ranking framework to include three new categories: state universities, skill universities, and open universities. The detailed list of rankings across these categories and the number of participating institutions are expected to be released soon.
