A 22-year-old murder accused named Kiran Santosh Bharam hurled a slipper at the District and Additional Sessions Judge after he was asked to change his advocate. The incident took place in a Session’s Court in Maharashtra’s Thane on the 21st of December where the accused was appearing for his hearing on the murder case on Saturday afternoon, Khadakpada Police Station Kalyan v. Kiran Santosh Bharam.
The accused was produced before District and Additional Sessions Justice RG Waghmare for a hearing in the murder case against him, where Bharam made a request to the Judge to assign his matter to another Court. The Judge then asked the accused to give an application for the same through his representative.
The name of the accused representative was then called out, but the lawyer was not around and did not make any appearance in the Court. Then the Judge asked the accused to give the name of another lawyer and was given a fresh new date, and then after, the accused bent down and took his slipper and hurled it towards the Judge.
Officials said that the slipper did not hit the Judge and instead struck a wooden frame in front of his desk, falling near the bench clerk, Press Trust of India (PIT) reported.
A First Information Report (FIR)was registered under Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others).
