On 23rd April 2025, a brutal terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam Valley. At least 26 civilians, primarily tourists, lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. This incident marks the deadliest attack in the region since the Pulwama incident in 2019.
The attack occurred at Baisaran, a meadow that can only be reached on foot or by pony, where a group of tourists were visiting. The Bar Association of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court issued a statement condemning the attack as a reprehensible and barbaric act of violence directed at innocent civilians. The Association expressed its support for the victims and their families, calling for a complete shutdown in Jammu and the suspension of judicial activities for the day.
Additionally, the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association condemned the attack as a brutal act that has no place in a civilized society, urging all its members and advocates to refrain from court activities in protest against the ongoing threat to regional peace. The Kashmir Jurists Bar Association also condemned the act, labeling it as an ‘inhumane assault by terrorists supported by Pakistan.‘
The Bar Associations have urged the Authorities to swiftly ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable and to establish robust preventive measures to protect civilians from comparable threats in the future.
