The High Court of Kerala on 26 June 2025 introduces the E-Filing to streamline the process of filing jail Appels and Petitions.
The decision to introduce electronic filing for prison authorities was made under a meeting which were led by Chief Justice of Kerala High Court Nitin Jamdar on December 2024. Key Officials from the Prisons & Correctional Services Department gathered to discuss enhancing the efficiency of jail Appeals and Petitions.
Chief Justice of Kerala High Court emphasized the importance of a digital filing over traditional paperwork filing, reduce the processing time and enhance the disposal of Appeals and Petitions; therefore, prisoners will get justice easier, without physical presence.
Kerala State Legal Services Authority & IT Directorate prepared two separate Standard Operating Procedure to adopt the new system & establish uniformity across jails regarding Documents for Appeal, to provide clear guidelines for its implementation and other related matter. Login credential created in all 57 Jails in the Kerala, for the Case Management System.
From 1 July 2025 the e- filing system will be effective in all jails of State of Kerala.
