Justice P. N. Prakash appointed as Special Public Prosecutor in Supreme Court for NIA Cases

Justice P. N. Prakash is a former Madras High Court Judge who retired in January 2023 and in his decade long term, disposed of more than 60,000 cases. He enrolled as an Advocate in the year of 1984 and specialized in conduct of trials and appeals in criminal cases and election petitions in the Madras High Court. He was sworn in as an Additional Judge of the Madras High Court in 2013 and elevated as a Permanent Judge in 2015.

A notification was published on the 18th of July, 2024, in the Gazette of India which stated that the Central Government had appointed Shri. P. N. Prakash, Sr. Advocate as a Special Public Prosecutor. It stated that he would be conducting matters on behalf of the NIA relating to the following NIA cases before the Supreme Court:

(i) RC – 42/2022/NIA/ DLI

(ii) RC – 33/2022/NIA/ DLI

(iii) RC – 02/2022/NIA/ DLI

(iv) RC – 01/2019/NIA/ DLI

(v) RC – 06/2019/NIA/ DLI
