About National Company Law Appellate Tribunal:
National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) was constituted under Section 410 of the Companies Act, 2013 for hearing appeals against the orders of National Company Law Tribunal(s) (NCLT), with effect from 1st June, 2016.
NCLAT is also the Appellate Tribunal for hearing appeals against the orders passed by NCLT(s) under Section 61 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (IBC), with effect from 1st December, 2016. NCLAT is also the Appellate Tribunal for hearing appeals against the orders passed by Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India under Section 202 and Section 211 of IBC.
About the Job:
The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (“NCLAT”) has issued a circular dated 13.12.2023, inviting applications for engagement of Law Research Associates (“LRA”) on a contractual basis for NCLAT Benches in New Delhi and Chennai. The last to apply is 07.03.2024.
There is a vacancy for 20 Law Research Associates at the NCLAT Principal Bench (New Delhi) and for 4 Law Research Associates in NCLAT Chennai Bench. However, the vacancies are tentative.
Eligibility:
- Candidate should be a Graduate in Law (including an Integrated Degree Course in Law under 10+2+3+3 or 10+2+5 pattern) with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks from any School/College/University/Institute established by law in India and recognized by the Bar Council of India for admission as Advocate or Attorney of an Indian Court;
- Candidates who have passed all his/her examinations within the duration of their course are eligible to apply;
- Candidates who have obtained his/her Law Degree/LLM not earlier than two years of the date of advertisement or any other date specified in the advertisement are only eligible to apply for the assignment as LRA;
- Candidates studying in the fifth year of the Five-Year Integrated Law Course or the third year of the Three-Year Law Course after graduation in any stream will also be eligible to apply, subject to furnishing proof of acquiring Law qualification before taking up the assignment as LRA;
- Candidates pursuing a graduate Degree in Law or any other Degrees or Programmes requiring their compulsory attendance elsewhere, during part of the expected period of engagement as Research Associates, is not eligible to apply for the assignment as LRA;
- Candidate must have research and analytical skills, and writing abilities, including retrieval of desired information from various search engines/processes such as eSCR, Manupatra, SCC Online, LexisNexis,
Westlaw, etc; and - Must have good knowledge of the operation of computers and skill of using common software in use like MS Office etc.
- Must have requisite knowledge of Company Law with IBC and in addition, the knowledge of Competition Law.
- The candidate must not have attained the age of 30 years as of the last date fixed for submission of applications as per this vacancy circular.
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.
Salary:
The person engaged as a Law Research Associate on a contractual basis in the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal shall be paid a consolidated fixed amount of ₹60,000/- (Rupees Sixty Thousand only) per month as Honorarium/Remuneration. No other allowances or perks shall be admissible.
