The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), in its 26th Council meeting held on February 12, 2025, appointed new leadership for the term 2025-26. CA Charanjot Singh Nanda has been elected as the President of ICAI, taking over the reins from CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, while CA Prasanna Kumar D has been appointed as the Vice-President, succeeding CA Charanjot Singh Nanda. With this new leadership, ICAI aims to continue strengthening the profession by fostering innovation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing the role of Chartered Accountants in India’s economic framework.
CA Charanjot Singh Nanda, FCA, now the 73rd President of ICAI, is a seasoned Chartered Accountant with over three decades of experience. A Fellow Member of ICAI, he has been in practice since 1991. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from MLN College in 1987, where he consistently ranked on the merit list at Kurukshetra University. He achieved the 35th rank in the CA Inter Examination before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1991. His leadership journey within ICAI has been longstanding, starting as the Chairman of the Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) in 2002-03. He was first elected to ICAI’s Central Council in 2004 and has now completed six terms, marking his seventh term as a Central Council member. His election as Vice-President for the 2024-25 term paved the way for his current role as President. His oath was administered by Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
CA Prasanna Kumar D, the newly elected Vice-President, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Loyola College, Chennai, and a Master’s in Sociology from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984 and has been a Fellow Member of ICAI for over three decades. His leadership within ICAI has been consistent, having been elected to the Central Council for three consecutive terms – 24th, 25th, and now the 26th Council.
