With a thirst to work for the motherland and the betterment of those in need, HIYAN NGO was started by a group of responsible human beings. HIYAN helps to elevate the destitute condition of many people in Assam. It has been working for over a year now, and has devoted itself to the deprived. Its aim is to focus on those areas which are always being neglected or left behind. The NGO hopes to go further in an effort to promote the necessitous environment of Assam.
HIYAN NGO is more than happy to announce about the fundraising online competitions – ‘LOCKDOWN DIARIES’ through which it aims to not only provide a platform for the rising talents but also to donate the overall registration fee to those in need. During this hectic time of lockdown, when it seems that somehow all our lives have come to a stop, ‘LOCKDOWN DIARIES’ hopes to provide a kind of respite to the people. The three competitions that will be organized are – WRITING CONTEST, PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST AND DEBATE COMPETITION (English and Assamese).
The competitions (debate,writing and photography) are open for all. There is no age limit. The competitions are pan – Indian and people from all over India are eligible to participate in the LOCKDOWN DIARIES.RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR ENGLISH AND ASSAMESE DEBATE:
● The speakers shall either speak for the motion or against the motion. No speaker would be permitted to speak from both the sides of the motion● Each speaker shall be allotted 2 minutes to present their arguments. However, the opener of the house shall be given 4 minutes at the commencement of the debate.
● The opener at the end of the debate would also be given 2 more minutes to present his/her closing remarks after all the speakers have spoken, thereby, closing the house.
● Mere reading of the argument out of the paper would lead to deduction of marks.

● Participants speaking beyond the given time (2 minutes) would be subjected to deduction of points.
● The decision of the judges will be final and unchallengeable.
● All debaters should be visible on camera at all times during the competition.
● The opposition must mute their microphones to minimise noise interruption and unmute when their team speaks.
● All the entries are to be submitted by 12 th August.

● A caption must be given for the photograph .The photograph must be in colour or in black and white.
● The photograph must be original and no watermark of any kind should be on it.
● The photograph can be in landscape or portrait mode . It should be of the highest resolution possible.
● Photographs that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping , reasonable adjustments to exposure colour and contrast etc.) will be disqualified.
RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR WRITING COMPETITION:
● The word limit for the write ups is 150-200 words.
● Plagiarized content would not be accepted. The organizing committee has the sole right to disqualify any member if found doing so.
Perks of winning the Competitions:
Winning is both fun and a satisfying experience. But what makes winning more exciting is the prizes that you win! Participating in “Lockdown Diaries” also means you would get a chance of winning exciting cash prizes. We have exciting cash prizes for the top 2 winners of all the three categories of the competition! All the winners will be awarded with a merit e-certificate and all the participants will be given an e-certificate of participation. By participating in the competitions, you will not only contribute to a cause but also you can get the chance to be a winner!

Last date of registration: 10 th August, 2020
Last date of submission(Photography and Writing Competition): 12 th August, 2020
Date of Debate Competition: Assamese : 12th August,2020 and English: 13 th August, 2020.
The Debate competition will take place on Zoom app at 6pm on the respective dates.
