Mr. Naresh Thacker has moved into independent counsel practice as the National Litigation Head at Economic Laws Practice, after a career of 22 years.

His legal practice covers a wide range of specializations, including indirect taxation, domestic and international arbitration, regulatory matters related to foreign trade, FEMA and IBC-related disputes.

During his tenure at ELP, Mr. Thacker led the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice and was instrumental in building its reputation in the disputes space. Though now operating independently from Mumbai, he remains an active litigator before the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court.

In response to his departure, Mr. Suhail Nathani, the firm’s Managing Partner, was reported to have expressed appreciation for Thacker’s legacy at the firm. He noted that ELP had a tradition of producing senior advocates from its partner ranks and extended his best wishes for Mr. Thacker to attain similar recognition.

Mr. Thacker, in outlining his reasons for transitioning, is believed to have emphasized his preferences for courtroom arguments, which had always driven his professional choices. He stated that being the head of a practice group within a law firm often entailed administrative burdens and restricted collaboration, driving him to engage more broadly with the legal community.
