Delhi High Court Chief Justice Manmohan Recommended For Elevation To Supreme Court

The Supreme Court Collegium on November 28, (Thursday) has proposed the promotion of Delhi High Court Chief Justice Manmohan to the Supreme Court of India, marking a pivotal moment in the Indian Judiciary. This decision aligns with the Collegium’s ongoing efforts to address vacancies in the Apex Court and ensure judicial efficiency.

The decision was made by the Collegium, which was headed by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna. The Collegium was composed of Justices BR Gavai, Surya Kant, Hrishikesh Roy, and Abhay S Oka.

Justice Manmohan, known for his expertise in constitutional and commercial law, has a distinguished career in the judiciary. Appointed as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, he has delivered landmark judgments on diverse legal matters, particularly in corporate and taxation law. His elevation reflects recognition of his judicial acumen and substantial contribution to the legal fraternity.

Currently, the Supreme Court is functioning with several vacancies, and the Collegium’s recommendation seeks to bridge this gap. The proposal now awaits the President of India’s approval, following the standard process of consultation with the central government.
