The Delhi High Court unveiled a new free Wi-Fi service for lawyers and the public on May 29th. Phase I of this initiative covers ‘A’ Block, ‘B’ Block, ‘C’ Block, Extension Block, the Mediation Centre, and the Lawyers Cafeteria.
The launch event took place at the B Block Lawyers Cafeteria, where Acting Justice Manmohan, alongside Justice Rajiv Shakdher (Chairman of the Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence & Accessibility Committee) and committee members Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Justice Sanjeev Narula, Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, and Justice Girish Kathpalia, introduced the new facilities.
In addition to the Wi-Fi, the court launched several other digital tools: the e-True Copy Application, a soft launch of the Delhi High Court’s revamped website, and a Virtual Tour of the Delhi High Court – Phase I. The new website adheres to the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW), aiming to enhance accessibility, usability, and user experience for all stakeholders, including lawyers, litigants, and the general public. It consolidates all e-facilities into a dedicated grid for easier access.
The Virtual Tour offers a glimpse of the court premises through a sequence of videos, still images, and 360-degree views, allowing viewers to explore the court environment virtually.
Acting Chief Justice Manmohan emphasized that these projects would increase the accessibility of the Delhi High Court for both lawyers and the public. He shared insights into the court’s administrative structure, He expressed that the Delhi High Court is unique and is regarded as a trendsetterand a torchbearer of all reforms that take place.
He expressed gratitude to the predecessor judges of the Delhi High Court for establishing a robust administrative framework.
