In an unfortunate turn of events, a 44-year-old advocate, identified as Om Kumar Sharma, reportedly took his own life by jumping from a building in Saket Court, South Delhi, on 29th January 2024 evening. The advocate’s lifeless body was discovered in the court’s parking area, and authorities retrieved a suicide note from his possession.
Confirming the incident, a senior police officer stated, “At 8 pm, we received information that an advocate jumped off from the Lawyer’s chamber in Saket court and died. His body was found at the parking area behind Saket court. We have taken custody of the body and sent it for autopsy.”
The investigation unveiled that Advocate Om Kumar Sharma had been grappling with a liver disease for the past two years. On the day of the incident, he had visited a hospital with his wife before arriving at Saket Court. Tragically, he left his wife at the gate and subsequently took the drastic step.
This unfortunate incident sheds light on the mental and physical toll that prolonged illnesses can impose on individuals, including professionals. The legal community mourns the loss of one of its members, emphasizing the need for enhanced mental health support and awareness within the legal fraternity. The investigation into this tragic event is currently underway.
