On 16th June 2025, the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has elected Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeevi Shanthakumar as its new President. He currently serves as the Director and Vice Chancellor of Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) and also holds the position of Provost-in-Charge at Gujarat Maritime University.
Prof. (Dr.) Shanthakumar expressed deep gratitude for the trust placed in him by fellow Vice Chancellors through an announcement via LinkedIn. He stated that this role marks not just a personal achievement but a shared mission to build a collaborative and inclusive legal education framework across the country.
In his message, he emphasised that the Consortium’s vision goes beyond organising the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). It also aims to promote academic excellence, research partnerships, and the holistic development of all NLUs.
Faculty members, staff, and students at GNLU extended warm congratulations and best wishes to Prof. (Dr.) Shanthakumar. They expressed pride in his leadership and dedication to legal education.
As President, he has pledged to work closely with all stakeholders. His goal is to position NLUs not only as national leaders but as global benchmarks in legal academia.
