About Legal Aid Cell:
CNLU Legal Aid Cell with its motto Stand Speak Act was established in the year 2015 with the vision to ensure fair and meaningful justice to the marginalized and disadvantaged by bringing them legal awareness and aid. The main objectives of the Legal Aid Cell are to promote legal awareness throughout the State of Bihar, to provide pro bono legal aid to those who are in need, and to inculcate social responsibility which will lead to realization of goals embodied in the Constitution of India. CNLU Legal Aid Cell is further divided in 4 different center i.e., Consumer Rights Centre, Centre for Client Counseling, Centre for Legal Awareness Camps, Centre for Research on Cases.
About the Event:
The event is called VIDHIKTA 2.0. Vidhikta is the confluence of two words ‘Vidhik’ and ‘Sahayta’. ‘Vidhik Sahayta’ or legal aid is the act of assisting those people who are in need of legal recourse but are dampened by financial constraints. Vidhikta 2.0 is going to give a platform to redefine legal aid. It is a platform to express, innovate and gain knowledge through jam-packed events with marvelous rewards and additional perks.
Vidhikta 2.0 has various events lined up for the three days like-
- Mock Lok Adalat;
- National Client Counseling Competition;
- Contract Drafting;
- Legal Start-up and Business Plan Competition;
- Nukkad Natak;
- Quiz Competition;
- PIL Drafting Competition.
Three events namely Mock Lok Adalat. National Client Counseling and Nukkad Natak will be held in Offline mode in the CNLU Campus and the rest of the events are to be held in Online mode. The details of all these events can be found in the brochure attached along with this post.
Eligibility:
- National Client Counseling Competition, Mock Lok Adalat Competition, Quiz Competition, PIL Drafting Competition, Contract Drafting Competition is open to all students pursuing LL.B. (3-year or 5-year course) or LL.M. from any recognized university across India.
- Nukkad Natak Competition is open to students (from any field of study), NGOs, social workers, teachers, academicians, and para-legal volunteers (PLVs).
- Legal Start-up and Business Plan Competition is open to both UG and PG students currently enrolled in any recognized college or university.
Team Composition:
- In the Client Counseling Competition, the team shall comprise a minimum of Two (2) participants.
- The team composition for Mock Lok Adalat is Three (3) which includes (i) Presiding Officer (who shall be the neutral party, and will help the parties in dispute in reaching the amicable settlement); (ii) Petitioner/Respondent Advocate; (iii) Petitioner/Responded Client.
- The team composition for the Nukkad Natak Competition shall be a maximum of Twelve (12) people.
- Each team for Quiz Competition shall comprise of only one participant.
- For PIL Drafting Competition, each team shall comprise of minimum one (1) and a maximum of two (2) participants.
- In the Legal Start-up and Business Proposal Competition, each team shall comprise of minimum one (1) and a maximum of three (3) participants.
- In the Contract Drafting Competition, each team shall comprise of minimum one (1) and maximum two (2) participants.
Prize Money:
Vidhikta 2.0 is promising a very exciting prize pool of Rs. 2,30,000/- for various events.
- National Client Counseling Competition:
- Best Counsel – Rs. 20,000 + Internship Opportunity + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.
- 2nd Best Counsel – Rs. 15,000 + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.
- Best Client – Rs. 10,000 + Internship Opportunity + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.
- Mock Lok Adalat Competition:
- Winner – Rs. 20,000 + Internship Opportunity + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.
- Runner Up – Rs.15,000 + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.
- Best Mediator– Rs. 5,000 + Internship Opportunity + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.
- Nukkad Natak:
- Winning Team – Rs. 25,000 + Certificate of Merit + Trophy
- 2nd Best Team- Rs. 20,000 + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.
- Quiz Competition:
- Winner– Rs. 10,000 + Certificate of Merit.
- Runner’s-up – Rs. 7000 + Certificate of Merit.
- PIL Drafting Competition:
- Winner– Rs. 10,000 + Internship Opportunity + Certificate of Merit.
- Runner’s-up – Rs. 7,000 + Certificate of Merit.
- First Runner’s-up – Rs. 5,000 + Certificate of Merit.
- Legal Start-Up & Social Business Plan Competition:
- Winners: Rs 10,000 + Certificate of Merit.
- 1st Runner Ups: Rs. 7,000 + Certificate of Merit.
- 2nd Runner Up: Rs. 5,000 + Certificate of Merit.
- Contract Drafting Competition:
- Winners: Rs 10,000 + Certificate of Merit.
- 1st Runner Ups: 7,000 + Certificate of Merit.
- 2nd Runner Up: 5000 + Certificate of Merit.
Important Dates:
- 22nd September: Last day of registration
- 20th September: Release of proposition
- 25th September: Last day for clarifications
- 6th October: Preliminary round 1
- 7th October: Preliminary round 2 and semi-finals
- 8th October: Final round and valedictory ceremony
