About the certificate course on data protection law:
With the growth of the digital age, there is a subtle but consolidated growth of digital laws and surely it cannot be denied that data is the new oil. In an automated world everything is big data driven therefore, it is of necessity that there is adequate regulation and growth of sound jurisprudence on data protection law. Interestingly, India is a new member to the family of privacy rights, it was in 2017 that India recognized privacy as a fundamental right (K.S. Puttaswamy-I). However, data protection continues to be a facet still to be recognized as a fundamental right.
The newly enacted Personal Digital Data Protection Act, 2023 is the prime legislation for governing the matters of data protection law in India. The coming of the enactment has created new legislative entities in the form of Data Protection Authority, Appellate Tribunal and will also create positions of Data Protection Officer at Data-Fiduciary level. With the nascent origin of data protection legislation, and thousands of Data-Driven companies working in India, there would be a large demand for Data Protection Officer in coming times. Further the recent cases of privacy breach and challenge to data protection regime needs to be analyzed from the point of views of different legal regimes, to have better understanding and insight into the data protection legal regime. Therefore, it is a conducive time for tapping into this opportunity, thus in the pursuance of this goal, the Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur in collaboration with Centurion University of Technology And Management is starting this Certificate Course on Data Protection Law. The purpose being to be embedding within the participants the jurisprudential aspect of privacy, data protection and ancillary technological advancement.
