On Monday, a 62-year-old ex-Indian Revenue Service official was apprehended for the alleged murder of his wife, a practicing Supreme Court lawyer, inside their residence in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Authorities stated that the accused, Ajay Nath, concealed himself in the bungalow’s storeroom following the incident, which occurred on Sunday.
The tragic event unfolded when the victim, 61-year-old Renu Sinha, did not answer multiple calls from her brother for two consecutive days. Alarmed by this, her brother promptly notified the police.
The woman’s brother accused his brother-in-law, who was on the run, of the murder after her body was discovered. He informed the police that the couple had “regular arguments“,stated DCP Harish Chander during a press briefing.
The Police tracked him down to the bungalow’s storeroom where he had been hiding for over 36 hours before arresting him.
The motive behind the tragic incident was reportedly a disagreement between the couple over selling their bungalow.
As per the police, the husband was inclined to sell the property and had even accepted a nominal amount from a potential buyer. However, the lawyer was not in favor of it, resulting in recurrent arguments between the couple. In a statement, police confirmed the presence of senior officers, forensic experts, and a dog squad at the scene.
