The Supreme Court of India quashed a Delhi High Court Order requesting the Delhi Government to refrain from taking coercive action against the bike-taxi aggregators Rapido and Uber until a new policy was developed, allowing them to operate in the nation’s capital.
The two aggregators were given permission by a vacationing bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Rajesh Bindal to ask the Delhi High Court to hear their case immediately. The court that overturned the High Court’s ruling on May 26 took note of the Delhi government counsel’s argument that the final policy will be announced before the end of July.
The AAP administration was contesting the High Court’s ruling of 26th May ordering it not to take any coercive action against the bike-taxi aggregators till the final policy was issued in two separate petitions that were being heard by the top court.
The Supreme Court requested that the Central Government respond to both of the Delhi Government’s arguments.
