Taking into note the surge in COVID-19 pandemic cases across the country, the Consortium of National Law Universities vide notification dated May 15 has extended the last date of submission of application form for Common law Admission Test (CLAT), 2021 to June 15.
The CLAT 2021 which was earlier scheduled to take place on June 13 has also been postponed. Fresh dates shall be notified in due course.
The Executive Committee of the Consortium of National Law Universities met on May 15, 2021, to discuss in regard to the CLAT 2021 admission test.
The notification issued by the Consortium of NLUs stated:
“After reviewing the surge of COVID-19 pandemic in the country and keeping in view of health and safety of all stakeholders of CLAT, the Committee resolved that:
The CLAT-2021 scheduled to be held on June 13, 2021, stands postponed. The new date of the Test will be notified in due course.”
“The last date for submission of online application has been extended to June 15, 2021,” the notification issued by the Consortium further noted.
Earlier, the last date of submission of CLAT 2021 online applications was announced to be May 15.
Deadline For CLAT 2021 Applications Extended Till May 15
CLAT 2021 which was earlier scheduled to be held on May 9 was postponed to June 13 vide press release dated January 06, 2021.
As per the notification dated 19 April 2021, the CLAT Consortium had informed the applicants that since the pandemic situation is being monitored, it shall take the stock of the situation in the first week of May in regard to deciding the date of the test.
The foregoing notification reads:
“All applicants of CLAT-2021 are hereby informed that Consortium of National Law Universities is monitoring the COVID-19 Pandemic situation and will take the stock of the situation in the first week of May 2021 regarding the date of the test. Notification will be issued on the website of Consortium subsequently.”
The Application Fee for the CLAT 2021 exam is Rs. 4000/- for candidates belonging to the General category and Rs. 3500/- for SC/ST candidates.
