ABOUT NLSIU BANGALORE
National Law School of India University, Bangalore is a premier law school, it has anchored the transformation of Indian legal system with research and policy interventions since 1986. The National Law School first introduced the Five-Year Integrated Law Degree in India in 1988 and Two-Year Masters in Public Policy in 2014, the University has nurtured many leading professionals in legal and policy practices.
ABOUT THE HACKATHON
The year 2020 has been hard on many communities across the world, the student community is a prominent one amongst them. However, with substantial difficulties and limited access to on-campus educational resources we, as a community, have found ways to mitigate any loss of learnings.
Building on, the E – Cell at the National Law School is proud to announce its flagship event The National Law School Policy Hackathon 2021 to be held in the month of January, marking a new beginning.
The pandemic has exposed a lot of gaps in our policy and governance structures, these long unresolved issues and gaps have accentuated the impact of the pandemic on the Nation’s daily life. Impeccable Public Policies would define the next decade.
The Policy Hackathon 2021 is a unique virtual platform competition which will engage students from renowned institutions across disciplines to deal with important policy issues concerning India for the next decade. The Hackathon will also feature a panel discussion with eminent academicians, activists and practitioners on issues of public concern.
The participating teams will formulate a policy to address a problem of their choice from multiple streams, the policy solution will be judged and marked on written submission and a brief presentation by a Jury consisting of leading public policy professionals.
A team is open to choose more than one stream, individual members can be part of more than one team.
ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open to students from all disciplines provided their institute is recognized and registered with a relevant regulating body in the field.
TEAM COMPOSITION
Each team shall consist of a minimum of two members and a maximum of four members. The teams shall nominate one member for the final presentation.
THE STREAMS
The participating teams will formulate a policy to address a problem of their choice from the multiple streams provided below:
- Climate Adaptation and Risk Analysis
- Electoral Reforms
- Education Policy
- Cyber Law and Policy
REGISTRATION
All students must register by December 31, 2020 through the provided link.
The registration process will be charged with a nominal amount of Rs. 150 + Rs(150 x number of streams)
Prizes worth ₹60,000/- and other incentives
