We all had the influence of Bollywood in our life; I had too. I was always fascinated by the Courtroom Scenes and Dialogues, their attitude, and the struggle for justice. I can recall several movies and dialogues from my childhood impression. Those are into my memory that I can execute them nicely. Those impressions made me so enthusiastic and passionate about the legal profession that I choose to do a legal degree and become an Advocate. Enrolling into the Law School was like a dream coming into reality. Another goal of visiting and experiencing the in-court scenario became a reality with my law school seniors and their mentor advocates. The first visit of the Court was planned at the Delhi High Court. My excitement level a night before was tremendous. My imagination was going way too far for that precious day. I could not sleep that night, and finally, in the Morning, the day arrived, we went to a Car. My enthusiasm made me ask so many fundamental questions from my Seniors, and the Journey became very informative and helpful.
We reached the land of justice, i.e., The Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, with all the black and white dressed Hero in their cape-like robe was roaming around, as it was 09:50 by my clock and everyone was heading towards the respective Courtroom as the Court began at 10 AM. They had their weapons(Thick and bulky case files, bookmarked with the colored sticky notes) to fight for justice; it looks like they were well prepared and confident about their matter. They all had in common apart from their attire that was the confidence in their body language; how can I not refer to them as the Super Hero.
I have witnessed various moments in the past few months as a Legal Intern. But this first visit still is my favorite. One of the most memorable moments that I would like to share is sitting in the Court of Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. While observing the proceedings I witnessed, one senior advocate came and started to plead in front of Hon’ble Justice. What a heroic entry! He said one line with humor and which also had a deep meaning.
He said– My Lord, the petitioners, are comparing the Apples with Oranges, which is not legally justified”.
To this, the Young man (Petitioner’s Advocate) replied-“Indeed Your Lordship, they both are fruits after all, obviously of a different character. The sourness of Oranges cannot be compared with the Sweetness of Apples. But this distinction cannot be made the ground to discriminate among two fruits. Both have their importance in the world of fruits”.
The matter further argued, and it was cleared to us that the comparison of Apples and Oranges was the comparison of Economic Weaker Section and Non-creamy Lawyer among the Other Backward Classes. They were the same because both have the income criteria of 8 lakh and were different because one is a social class, and the other is the people in general (of all class). Those humorous and valuable pleadings taught me more than what Law School taught me in the last six months about the Litigation. I cannot stop myself from cherishing that moment.
Several Advocates were present in a well-designed expensive suit with their long cape-like Black Rob that made them look like super Heroes, who appear on behalf of the individuals and fight on their behalf to get them justice. That day I felt that Super Heroes don’t need to come with a tightly fitted dress in colors like red, blue, or others. The Superheroes can also look like a Black Cape like Gown that free-flowing cape represents freedom of thoughts and expressions. That tiny small packet in the robe is like leaving behind all the ego and greed. Now are in the ground to fight for justice. The Court Room itself looked like the battlefield of Super-Heroes fighting for justice.
