About Desi Kaanoon:
Starting off on Instagram sharing memes related to legal knowledge, Desi Kaanoon is a social-media start-up by law students, for law students. With a current following of more than 70 thousand followers on Instagram, Desi Kaanoon has been a proud media partner for various events of law schools, colleges and universities. Besides, have mentored more than ten thousand law aspirants to get through eminent law schools across the country. We also organized various events including seminars and quiz competitions for our budding lawyers. We often look forward to promoting seminars, moot courts, MUNs, essay competitions, quiz competitions, conferences, call for papers and many more events. Our firmly gained goodwill has connected us with lots of talented people from the legal arena one would have always aspired of interning under.
Our website intends to bring to you articles on contemporary legal issues. To inspire young minds, regular interviews of top-notch lawyers are shared, particularly about their hard work and life advices. We also offer online certificate courses.
About the Competition:
If you are eager to pen down your thoughts about current legal topics, Desi Kaanoon has brought to you the right opportunity to hone your research and writing skills.
Eligibility Criteria:
All undergraduate/postgraduate students from recognized schools/colleges/universities are eligible for the event.
Topic(s) (Choose any ONE)
The topics for the competition are as follows-
1. Loopholes in the New Criminal Law Bills and Suggested Changes
2. Mandatorily Considering ADR before Litigation: Why it Might Work and Why it Might Not
3. Accommodating Data Protection Through Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023
4. Delhi Ordinance Controversy in the Light of Constitutional Morality
Registration:
Single Author: Rs. 199/-
Co-authorship: Rs. 299-
Note 1: Payment is to be done via QR.
Note 2: Participants can register themselves by filling out this Google form with the link.
Note 3: The last date to register is 17th January 2023.
Submission Guidelines:
- All the entries must be typewritten. No scanned or handwritten submission will be accepted.
- The word limit of the article should not be more than 1200 words (excluding footnotes.)
- The article shall be written in English only.
- Only 20% plagiarism is allowed.
Guidelines for the article are as follows:
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font Size: 14 for titles, 12 for the content and 10 for footnotes/citation.
- Alignment: Justified
- Citation Method: Bluebook 20th Edition.
Miscellaneous Rules:
Entries must be mailed to info.desikaanoon@gmail.com with the title “Entry for Essay Writing.”
The main body of the mail shall consist of Name, College/University name and Contact Number. Any sort of identification in the main article shall be a ground for immediate disqualification.
The last date for registration is 17th January 2024. The last date for submission is 25th January 2024.
All articles submitted after the due deadline will not be accepted.
An article can be co-authored by a maximum of one participant.
The content should be the original work of the writer and should not have been given to any other competition or for any publication.
The minimum permissible limit is 20%. Participants submitting articles with plagiarism level more than the permitted level will not be provided with certificates.
The decision of the judges will be final and binding. The results will be declared by 5th Feburary 2024 (subject to change).
Prizes:
First Prize: Rs. 2000/- + Certificate
Second Prize: Rs. 1500/- + Certificate
Third Prize: Rs. 1000/- + Certificate
The top three articles will also be published on our website. All the participants will get a participation e-certificate sent to their mail ID.
